COUNCIL FOR ANGLOPHONE MAGDALEN ISLANDERS (CAMI)

 

 

CAMI is currently seeking applications for a Camp Coordinator (1) to work on Entry Island. This position will be for a period of 8 weeks with a salary of id="mce_marker"0.00 / hour at 35 hours each week.  Students studying in an institution that is located more than 125 kms away from the area of work are eligible to receive funding to cover the costs of one round trip from the area of study to the workplace.   This position is anticipated to begin on June 25th, 2012 and will end on August 17th, 2012.  Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, have been a full time student in 2011-2012 and plan to be a full-time student again in September 2012.  Applicants MUST also apply for this position online at www.youngcanadaworks.ca  Please don’t hesitate to contact the CAMI office for assistance in applying online.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The student will act as Camp Coordinator where he / she will be required to coordinate and animate a summer day camp for the children on Entry Island

  • Planning and organizing the camp and its activities
  • Preparing and distributing schedules weekly to the children
  • Contact various businesses and organizations to book for special event activities
  • Mobilize and secure commitment from community volunteers (supervision & transportation)
  • Organize travel plans for special outings
  • Pick up supplies as required each week
  • Head of camp animation 
  • Reporting to the Executive Director each week (camp progress)
  • Preparing a wrap up report at the end of the camp (Mini-evaluation) on the satisfaction of the children, parents, etc...
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be very responsible and dependable
  • Outgoing, patient and kind
  • Organized but able to multi task
  • Possess excellent English language skills and fluency in the French language
  • Able to work under minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle

5-30 Health and Wellness Challenge

 

ACTI-MENU’s 5-30 Health and Wellness Challenge promotes healthy eating habits and physical activity into one’s daily life. The challenge entails eating 5 fruits/vegetables and exercising for 30 minutes each day.  The challenge begins on March 1st and ends on April 11th 2012.  The “Les Iles en Forme et en Sante” Project will be promoting the Challenge within the English-speaking community through the coordination and delivery of various events and activities aimed at promoting healthy active living among community members.

 

The Project is currently seeking applications for a 5/30 Health Challenge Animator to coordinate and animate a 6 week Health Challenge within the English-speaking community of the Magdalen Islands.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize the Health Challenge activities in collaboration with the community partners (CAMI, the Municipality of Grosse Ile, the Community Learning Centre, the community of Entry Island and any others deemed necessary)

  • Organize and deliver a publicity campaign within the community

  • Recruit teams to participate in the 6 week Challenge

  • Animate Challenge activities

  • Track participation in all Challenge activities and tally team points weekly

  • Produce a final report (Evaluation and report on activities)

  • Other tasks related to the development and delivery of the program

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills, able to multi-task and willing to learn new skills

  • The candidate must be self motivated and able to work independently but also capable of working with others

  • Strong English language skills, both oral and written.  Able to communicate minimally in the French language

  • Familiarity with recent computer programs

  • Availability to work flexible hours, weekends, etc…and travel to central Islands when required

 

Terms of Contract:

 

Contract will be non-insurable for a period of 9 weeks at 15 hours per week, id=mce_marker5 per hour beginning on February 20th, 2012 and ending on April 20th, 2012

The contracted professional must have access to his / her own computer
